Sheng Xiang and Band have opened up Taiwanese folk music to the world, having performed in such countries as the Czech Republic, Norway, France, the United States, Germany, and many others. In June of 2012, Sheng Xiang and Band recorded their album "My village" at NCCU's Art and Culture Center. In 2013 this album was judged by News 98 music critic to be a "Hot Record" and wrote: "If you ask me who the most important singer/songwriter in Taiwan is today, I will say without hesitation that it is Lin Sheng Xiang. I have seen this performer surpass the high standards that he sets for himself time and time again and I am proud to have been able to live in the same times as him." Zhong Yongfeng is the group's Golden Melody Award-winning lyricist, whose songs paint a picture of the small village that he grew up in as a child. The album as a whole is a product of two years that Golden Melody Award-winning singer/songwriter Lin Sheng Xiang spent in seclusion. The group's long and excellent background in music-making is reflected in this new album. The album not only catches the essence of Hakka culture, but also features folk songs from southern Taiwan and Okinawa, Japan.
On the last day of the year 2013, Sheng Xiang and Band will return to the NCCU campus with the spirit and warmth of rural Taiwan to kick of the New Year
