Beat Generation Vol.1 Ft. Nick Dunton (Surface/Blueprint, UK) + Angela Flame (SG) @ Legacy Taipei
Remember Just One Fix's legendary warehouse parties at Nangang Bottle Cap Factory? ▶ Nick Dunton aka 65D Mavericks
Running the highly regarded, Surface Records alongside Richard Polson (rip) since the mid nineties, Nick Dunton has been a stalwart in the techno community ever since, with the label featuring not only the pairs own music but also that of luminaries such as Claude Young, Oliver Ho, Alexander Kowalski, Surgeon, Regis, James Ruskin, Paul Mac, Grovskopa, Oscar Mulero and following the label’s relaunch after a short break – Sandwell District, Terrence Dixon, Francesco Baudazzi aka Obtane & Rich Oddie aka Orphx. Nick also ran Inceptive Records which saw multiple 12″ releases from Phase, Nick Wilson, CYP, HU, Brendan Ealey and also Reeko's debut album.
Alongside this Nick has also recently launched a new sister label Inchoate Music, with a view to blurring the boundaries between House and Techno. The first release featuring the newly formed Echelon Plan went beyond expectations and included a very special remix by Deltafunktionen!
Performing as the 65d mavericks, Nick & Richard built a worldwide reputation as one of the best live acts around. Tailoring every live set to each specific gig and becoming known throughout the electronic music scene for their no-compromise philosophies and diverse musical tastes, this has been reflected with full support and respect from their peers throughout the years. Nick has played regularly throughout Europe and beyond for the last 15 years or so, passing through such legendary clubs as Lost, Kozzmozz, La Real, Fabric, Split etc.. lining up alongside the best the world has to offer!
Nick has released music on some of the world’s premier imprints including Steve Bicknell’s Lost recordings, James Ruskin's — Blueprint, The Black Dogs — Dust Science Regis’ — Sandwell District, Function’s- Infrastructure, Ben Sims’ Theory, and Makaton’s Rodz-Konez amongst many others . and has remixed people from Female, Exium, Christian Wunsch, James Ruskin amongst many more.
Forthcoming 65d Mavericks releases include a collaboration with Orphx, a remix of a Cane/Funckarma project on Syncat NL. Alongside this Nick has been busily working away in the studio on the next 65d album, hopefully to be released in early 2014.
Under the Ever Vivid monicker Nick shows a deeper shade with a sound rooted firmly in Britain. taking influence purely from the heart, with a nod to the glory days of the early 90′s new wave of Plaid, B12, Stasis and early Autechre ... expect forthcoming releases in 2013 on Blueprint, Open Mind, Token (t.b.c.) and Prime Numbers.
As Nick Dunton he finally decided to come out from the shadows and in the process produce some of his finest work to date kicking off the first EP on new Surface subsidiary “Beneath the Surface” .Journeys to the Deep’ was released to critical acclaim in late 2010, and Nick has quickly followed up this success with the next episode – Between Worlds on his own Surface Records, including a Sandwell District remix.. Nick also has an EP in the works for longtime cohort James Ruskin's Blueprint Records and his own Surface records and is currently following up the 1st Inchoate release with a very special new project featuring a Rivet remix.
Surface continues to go from strength to strength after 16 years of service to the music industry with 2 albums coming in the next 12 months and numerous eps including James Ruskin, Rich Oddie and Terrence Dixon

Singapore's true female techno warrior has a DJ career spanning more than a decade. From her legendary driving techno sets during the heat of the local scene in the 90s at venues such as Area 22, Liquid Room and Sessions @ Zouk, AF's sound has advanced to a bridging edge creatively blending the classics with the new. She showcases a knowledge and respect for the depth of electronic music in all its complexity, not one to be waylaid by trend.
Reading like a United Nations rollcall, AF's list of tours include: Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Japan, Australia, India, Mexico, USA, Holland, Austria, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Croatia, UK and Poland. Of which, Germany and in particular its electronic music mecca, Berlin, stands out as being her place of residency for 3 prominent career years from 2001-2004. With Berlin as her launch pad, AF performed at world-famous gatherings and clubs including Tresor (Berlin), Awakenings Festival (Amsterdam), Future Shock Party (Croatia) and Love Parade parties (Berlin).
From intimate club environments to 10,000-strong festivals, AF has stretched her sound across bodies and nations more than she could ever imagine. It was also in Berlin where her foray into production began, resulting in releases on labels Asian Dynasty (Japan) and a double-disc DJ Mix – Essential Underground Vol. 05: Berlin / Singapore with Frank Muller on DJ-sets.com. Her track “Fire Walk with Me” received airplay on BBC Radio 1 show ‘The Breezeblock’.
Having travelled the world, AF returned to do what she loves and knows best – the music. Exploring the experimental reaches of this vast domain comes with a turn towards digital platforms and its limitless boundaries. With a harness of current technology, AF continues to move forward into the future of techno, which is when it all began.
