UNCOVER Festival aims to present the finest Taiwanese local events involving audio and visual artists with adventurous and novel mindsets, and to reflect the most recent happenings in the electronic music scene through artistic, cultural, and technical aspects.

Started in December 2009, SMOKE MACHINE stands for the current Taipei subculture, art, Techno music and club scene.

Intended to avoid the platitudes, the clichés and the ordinaries, SMOKE MACHINE has created an independent international platform that is based in Taiwan to share some of the most unique sounds around the world.

"geometer is kyle kaplan. he was heavily involved in classical music in earlier years, but exposure to rave culture, autechre, composition software, and entheogens redirected his interest to the vast creative possiblities of electronic tools. often under the moniker of sasha borodin, geometer has played shows in montreal, new york, los angeles and boston. his performances previously utilized custom built software for an integration between music and video, but presently he performs solely with audio hardware, preferring the transparency and streamlined approach of a laptopless performance. he is originally from los angeles, and has lived in taipei since october of 2011. his sounds are images of machine dreams - jigsawed rhythms, juxtaposed patterns, spaces opening and closing."

Both a sound artist and an electronic musician, Betty Apple has worked in fields as diverse as sound art, electronic music performance and theater music design. Her influences range from dance music, to noise and bedroom-electronica subcultures. As a main organizer of an electronica group, “Sound Farmers”(耕聲人), she produced the anti-nuclear album, “I Love Nuclear” with other bedroom electronica artists in Taiwan. She is the resident artist of “Lacking Sound Festival” which is the cradle of a new generation of sound artists. Invited by an avant-garde art magazine, White Fungus, she played on the same stage as other internationally famous sound artists like Merzbow, EVOL, Zbigniew Karkowski, Scott Afford, Fujui Wang and Samin Son.
