Melt-Banana is a Japanese noise rock band that is known for playing extremely fast grindcore and noise music mixed with experimental, electronica and pop-based song structures. The band has released nine albums and toured worldwide extensively

Melt Banana是來自日本的噪音搖滾樂團，節奏快速、扭曲破音的樂句、奇特的高速scream與rap，並混雜了由Agata用吉他做出來電子聲響，維基百科形容他們為newwave grindcore新浪潮碾核；曾經與Merzbow合作（正統學院派噪音，雖然曾被知名科藝所教授且上過wire的姚大鈞指為拿一張黑膠在地上踩一踩就可以做出來），也曾和John Zorn，還有Faith No More的主唱Mike Patton與Discordance Axis合作！
成軍20年，出過10張專輯，23張EP，早期每一首都簡短有力，暴動十足，最近幾張專輯開始出現2分鐘以上的歌，Melt-banana自己稱之為變"pop"了，但吉他一樣快速且越來越複雜。

兩次參與 BBC Radio Peel sessions

如果沒有John Peel可能搖滾樂就會無聊許多，John Peel是BBC Radio 1的傳奇DJ，不斷發掘新音樂，讓聽眾聽到更廣更多的聲音；不少樂團都承認，John Peel帶他們到了另外一個境界。而現場演出錄音的Peel session曾出現許多比樂團自己的錄音室版本還優的作品，發過Peel session的樂團包括The Fall、Culture、Jimi Hendrix、The Dammed、Nirvana、Pulp、The Smiths、T. Rex、The Cure、Jesus and Mary Chain、Stiff Little Fingers、The Undertones、Wire等，很可惜John Peel已在2004年因心藏病發過逝。

Melt-Banana共上過了兩次Peel pession，根據BBC的資料是2001與2003年，被John Peel選為年度50大歌曲三次：1998/1999/2003，入選的樂團還包括pavement、mogwai、blur、stereolab、smog、badly drawn boy、Flaming Lips、Aphex twin、Atari Teenage Riot、Add N to (X)等等。Melt-Banana曾在訪談中提到：樂團最快樂的時光『也許是John Peel跟他們說可以在Peel session亂搞30分鐘那時候吧！』
