由吉他手Wata、鼓手Atsuo、以及演奏雙頭琴的Takeshi三人所組成的Boris，他們把玩著經典的shoegaze風情，同時也是製造綿密轟音的箇中高手。早期Boris以團名大小寫來區分風格：BORIS（大寫）為激噪的Drone Metal/Stoner Rock，boris（小寫）則為注重氛圍的Experimental/Ambient；但近年風格多變的他們已較無此區分限制。如同MONO與world's end girlfriend的攜手合作，Boris也曾與灰野敬二、Merzbow等日本噪音巨匠推出令人頭皮發麻的經典合輯，06年與美國Drone Metal樂隊Sunn O)))的聯名專輯《Altar》更是迷幻知音們必聽的噪音輓歌，今年11月Boris與好友Asobi Seksu共同發行限量單曲，Boris翻玩Asobi Seksu的〈Neu Years〉、而Asobi Seksu也重新詮釋了Boris的經典名曲〈Farewell〉。

除了最廣為人知的中島哲也《告白》原聲帶，Boris也參與了其他幾部電影的配樂製作；例如金馬影展常客賈木許09年作品《The Limits of Control》，便是由Boris擔任音樂監製。

在2011年一口氣連續發行三張專輯的Boris，突然轉變至J-POP的電子曲風殺得樂迷措手不及；不過老屁股們也請不用擔心，Boris演出現場仍然具有懾人的龐大音量，以地獄般猛烈的全攻型吉他帶給聽者一波又一波的高潮衝擊，不光只是落在臉上的暴雨、而是籠罩全身的迷幻巨浪。他們早已清楚地告訴你：BORIS are HEAVY ROCKS！

Boris (ボリス) are a Japanese experimental rock band formed in Tokyo in 1992. The band’s name is taken from a song on Melvins’ album, Bullhead.
Boris saw a huge increase in popularity when their previously Japan-only albums were reissued in North America, garnering them critical acclaim and recognition in music press. Pink, originally released in 2005, was reissued in 2006 and met with a very positive reception in the US. Blender magazine and SPIN magazine both named it one of the year’s best albums. The album also made the top of the metal section in Canadian magazine Exclaim’s reader’s poll of that year, and was in the top 10 of Pitchfork Media’s top 50 records of the year.
