The Ever So Friendlies' Video Release Party (Stickmen with Bottoms)

28 years and 7 months ago, girlfriends from around the globe grasped onto their boyfriends' arms as Michael Jackson's Thriller shook the very core of music-videography. This stunning video told a tragic tale of young love, while simultaneously enhancing the king of pop's melodic cuppings. Since then, directors and artists alike have been trying in vain to recreate what, until now, only Thriller has done.

Having said that, it is true that within the 28 years and 7 months, there have been some fine efforts. Take, for example, Michael's own attempt in the shape of a collaboration with Sir Paul McCartney. However, the racy and ballsy ‘Ebony and Ivory’ didn't quite reach the standards which Jackson himself had set through Thriller. Another close attempt came in the year 2000, when Sisqo dropped 'The Thong Song' on an excitable teen audience, but despite his noble effort, Siquo and his thongs aged like a foul cheese as the impressionable teens grew into adults in search of true inspiration.

Now, in the year 2012, The Ever So Friendlies have teamed up with some of Taichung finest and raised the audiovideographic bar to lofty heights previously thought unattainable. Ladies and gentlemen, swab your ears and buff your bifocals in preparation for the unveiling of…. VERTICAL SIT…in HD.

March 24th @ The Refuge Taichung, The Ever So Friendlies will be premiering a video for one of their newest party stompers, Vertical Sit. The night is already off to a good start as it directly follows the annual Taichung book fair, and with live music form The Ever So Friendlies, Peaks and Windy City 4, it is sure to be a worthy after-party.

LIVE BANDS:

THE EVER SO FRIENDLIES are a post punk, anti-folk, melodic metal, smooth grime, indie rock triplet with a thirst for YOU! They have been pottering around the island for over two years now shocking audiences with their unique fusion of music and words, which they call, “singing songs.” Don’t miss what might be your last chance to see them perform (in March)!

PEAKS are probably Taichung’s newest band, but don’t be fooled into thinking these boys are anything shy of the real deal. This band is made up of some of Taiwan’s best musicians. Lead singer and guitarist Andy Goode is one of the finest song writers that this island has the privilege to call its own, and he has been establishing that since the beginning of time (well, way over 5 years)! Rock/Blues master Chris Bailey is a true guitar wizard. His slick riffs are guaranteed to keep the crowd on their feet, and to inspire other guitarists to keep practicing. Watching Tim Tucker teach his drums a lesson while Max Radings moves the earth with his bass is like watching an avalanche through the window of your warm comfortable cabin and drinking a smoky bourbon. Not to be missed.

WINDY CITY 4 is Hsinju’s answer to everything that is good! This band is garage rock at its best. Their songs are exciting, raw, loud and energetic; yet at the same time, as tight as a symphony. If you haven’t seen this band before, this gig is a must see. These boys will leave you wondering why you haven’t seen them before; and more importantly, how you will get to see them again.
