The Black Dog presents Scott Cook & Jack Conqueroo!

Edmonton, Alberta, Canada's own prairie balladeer Scott Cook is returning to Taiwan for an island-wide tour to release his third solo album, Moonlit Rambles. After staying on Taiwan for six years, teaching and playing with The Anglers and The Smoking Cones, Scott left the classroom to pursue music full-time in 2007, and has been living out of his van all over North America ever since. He has made two trips back to the island to release his previous CDs Long Way to Wander and This One's on the House, and is excited to return with his best work to date, an album of moonlit nights, open roads, sociopolitical musings, love, loss, and longing, marked by his characteristically mellow fingerpicking, thoughtful lyricism, and plain-spoken honesty. Jack Conqueroo was born in the swamplands between Lafayette & Opelousas, Louisiana on the twenty-first of November, 1969. Born to a coonass alligator poacher with a penchant for gator tail and moonshine, Jack grew up in amidst the mangroves, and was transformed by the sounds of the bayou. Jack ran away from home at the age of 5 to join the midway carnival that was parked outside his father's shack. Hellbent on making it in show business, Jack stole his old man's (Jacques Sr.) guitar and started playing for anyone with a nickel or who was willing to listen. Jack, like a good gumbo has been simmerin' to taste for the last 35 years. Listen carefully you can hear the sweltering, stickiness of the swamps Jack called home in his songs. Jack continues to entrance barrooms, and concert halls worldwide with his antiquated brand of Low Down Dirty Delta Blues against the vocoded and quantized musical landscape and tastes of his contemporaries. It's all in the roux, people. "It's all in the roux!
