Born in Paris, France. Clémentine is unique not only for being able to sing fluently in French, English, Spanish and Portuguese but for the combining of her whispering and yet jazz-trained voice --- which may be reminiscent of such legendary singers as Astrud Gilberto or Jane Birkin, with the modern rhythms and grooves of the '90s. Thus, although holding her own cult following, Clémentine has no trouble appealing to many in the pop crowd as well.
In 1987, Clémentine heard about some recording going on in Barcelona involving two of her favorite jazz players, Ben Sidran and Johnny Griffin. Immediately, she set out for Barcelona with her own demo tape, containing an old Griffin composition, Continent Bleu, to which she had added lyrics and vocals. Johnny was so impressed by her demo that he offered to work together with her. The result was Clémentine's first album, entitled Continent Bleu (1987).
Since then, she released 20 albums of jazz, pops, and bossa nova. Clémentine is the most loved French singer in Japan.
