The annual Hohaiyan Rock Festival started in 2000 and this year is bigger and better than ever, growing from a three-day event to a very impressive five days. There's a great line-up which mixes some of Taiwan's best rock (and folk/pop/metal/reggae/punk) bands and a bunch of top international acts, and organisers are hoping to bring over a million music fans to Fulong Beach.

Aside from all the well-known bands, there is also a "battle of the bands" where independent acts compete for a 1st prize cheque of TW$200,000, while 2nd and 3rd place runners-up get TW$50,000. Previous winners include Tizzy Bac, 88 Balaz and Sodagreen
