Taipei Soul Brothers have been around for about four years and they evolved out of the street music scene. That’s why we currently still use the cajon instead of the regular drum set. We try to keep our band sound and lineup simple and stripped down because we often get small stages with acoustics that are hard to predict. Our repertoire revolves around our own songs (rock, folk, blues, a bit of jazz) with a few covers thrown in – but we’re far from having reached the stage that we intended to reach: a full-blown soul band with a brass section and keyboards … But we’ve kept our name because there’s already a slight buzz around it.

Our current line-up varies between one-piece and five-piece and at its maximum comprises:

- Klaus: guitar / vocals

- Dasu: vocals and percussion

- Nelson or Ken: bass guitar

- Kailin or Haitun: cajon or drum set

- Otis: blues harp

Any additional guitar and keyboard players are welcome and could be added to the line-up to give it a broader sound more suitable for larger stages.

At the moment we mainly play street gigs. In the summer of 2013, we played on the stage at Flora Park, where we mainly did oldies from the sixties and seventies. In 2013, we won one song competition for “Flirting With The Devil” and we came second in another song competition where we played “Slow Shoes” and “Steel Wheels”. At the moment, we’re trying to build up something which might be called a “show”, but coming from the street background, we still need to develop into a band which is suited to playing longer sets for a paying audience.

台北靈魂兄弟 漂洋過海、陰錯陽差的命運，讓五個男人在艋舺相會，來自三個不同世代的樂手組成了這個很難定義的樂團，不夠來「電」可是很有爆發力，以靈魂為名但卻充滿藍調的韻味。他們可以在街頭唱60年代的老歌，也可以在專業大舞台唱自創曲，然而台北靈魂兄弟們心中的夢想卻是編出一場曠世的音樂劇，我們同時正等待著鍵盤手、小號手或者吉他手加入我們的行列。
