Hi-hat hits, renegade snares, 808 kicks, and bass drops that leave your heart in your mouth: these are the sonic intangibles we've been chasing since 1996, the first time we had DJs throw down some jams and called it a party. Now in 2014, AB Koo's still chasing those elusive beats, still trading in all our tomorrows for one night on the dancefloor. This time out, on Dragon Boat Festival Weekend, we're calling it Chasing the Dragon. Will you come join the chase?

自從有DJ在電音上將 808 編曲機鼓鈸貝斯震的心臟快吐出來開始，是我們自1996年一直以來在派對所追尋的無形聲波資產。AB Koo 至今時今日18年後依舊追尋那些難 以捉摸的節奏, 依然將明天以及明天的活力一次用在舞池於一夜。這次，於端午節划龍舟的周末，我們一同追尋龍的蹤影，您是否加入我們的追尋？

>>>>> Sylvain cuts a unique path through the sonic landscape of Taipei's clubland via his sets populated with Footwork/Juke, Future Jungle and Halfstep. Of course there are abundant nods to Drum 'n' Bass in there, too. Also known as DISCOATTACK, his “Future Jungle Attitude” mixes are essential listening, with the just-posted Vol 3 getting shouts from heavyweight Addison Groove. <<<>>> dINO was schooled in old school Drum 'n' Bass, getting turned on to the sound initially when dark and scary Techstep reigned supreme. Having expanded the hues of his sound palette considerably since the late 1990s, dINO today drops some of the most diverse and consistent DnB sets to be heard anywhere on Taipei floors. Though dINO remains one of the most unassuming DJs in the local DnB scene, he has opened for a huge number of international DnB talent, including Andy C, Sub Focus, Dieselboy and, most recently, LTJ Bukem.

dINO 受過 old school Drum 'n' Bass 的洗禮, 當dark and scary Techstep剛剛開始炙熱之時,年輕的他 已首先掌握到其劍氣, 在90年後期, 他的路線繼續再被擴張 ,越加確定其先見能力, 及精準的洗煉成熟度, 即便在業界他仍屬地下, 如今在台北的重低音舞池裡我們聽見dINO丟出許多令人雀躍豐盛的鼓打貝斯, 至今未被廣泛的認識, 但我們發覺他已經默默為數位國際級重量級的大師開場, 如Andy C, Sub Focus, Dieselboy 以及LTJ Bukem.

<<<>>> Among the five DJs dropping sets at “Chasing the Dragon,” Trent is the one who played for us first, way back at AB Koo's “Bloom” party in 2003! Trent first got turned on to the myriad possibilities of electronic dance music as a student, beginning with '90s-era sounds. A self-taught DJ, Trent's first time playing to a crowd was at said AB Koo party. Ten years later, in September of 2013, Trent joined forces with good friend and fellow DnB DJ, Legacy, to form Envelope. In the space of mere months, the two-man team has established itself as a major player in the Taipei party circuit. Envelope places firm focus on Drum 'n' Bass, whilst incorporating other forms of quality electronic music. Working with vinyl originally, Trent's DJing today preserve the sound quality so inherent of that medium whilst exploring the space and freedom that digital-driven technology offers. Trent's tech skills are on full display in effects-laden sets incorporating a midi controller in tandem with an iPad that take Traktor to its limits and beyond.

在學生時期深受九零年代電子音樂啓蒙而自學DJ，並於2003年受邀在AB Koo的活動中首次演出，2013年和Legacy合組派對單位Envelope，透過和各派對單位的密切合作，積極地推廣drum and bass以及各類高質量的電子音樂。早期Trent以黒膠為主要音樂媒界，適逢電腦硬體的發展和數位軟體的不斷進化，他選擇犧牲黒膠無可取代的音質以換取數位化後的自由度和探索空間。目前Trent的設定主要是以midi controller搭配ipad來控制Traktor参數，並應用多樣化的mapping來探索更多的可能性.

<<<>>> SwingChild is equally at home in the dive-like surroundings of Revolver as in the palatial expanses of Luxy. Alongside the likes of DJ Mykal, he's recently been putting his stamp on Urban Cyclops' “NiteRaid” parties at Rm 18 (which will soon celebrate their 1st Anniversary at Pipe), and contributes regularly to the Slot Machine label's events. Scheduling conflicts didn't allow for putting SwingChild in the line-up of an AB Koo party till “Chasing the Dragon.” Which is why we're absolutely psyched to hear the Bass Music, Trap and DnB sounds of his set!

SwingChild不管是在搖滾氛圍的Revolver Bar或者紙醉金迷的Luxy Club演出，都像在自家DJ一樣游刃有餘。近期他與DJ Mykal a.k.a. 林哲儀以UBCS(@Urban Cyclops)之名，在Room 18舉辦的夜襲派對受到非常高的評價，他也持續在其創立的音樂廠牌Slot Machine網路電台展現精采set。AB Koo經過多次邀約，終於在這次活動請到他來表演，我們熱切地期待他以四台CDJ帶來豐富的Bass Music, Trap and DnB!

<<<>>> Digital D, originally from Dallas, is a towering presence in Taipei's dance music scene, both in stature (standing well over six-foot-something) as well as in status (the self-proclaimed House King). We aren't about to dispute either one, but for one night we're wiling to wager he's a King of DnB, as well. That may come as a huge surprise to anyone who's familiar with Digital D as supremo House DJ bar none – and if you didn't know that, you obviously need to get out more. Little known fact: Digital D learned to DJ by mixing DnB, and he's still got the touch as well as the tracks dating way back to the early 2000s and late 1990s. Chasing the Dragon may be one of the rare nights for Taipei hedz to hear this DJ drop their music, with a wealth of classic DnB tracks in the mix!
