There never seems to be a shortage of great gigs in Taiwan to appease the metalheads among us. Here are a few highlights for the next couple of months…

Cannibal Corpse, Russian Circles, Vulner, Ogre, The Agonist, Head Phones President, Eye of Violence
Russian Circles are a three-piece instrumental 'post-metal' band from Chicago. Post-metal? Think Mono at their heaviest (check the videos here). They're joined by locals Vulner at The Wall on Wednesday 10/10. http://gigguide.tw/event-5932

Ogre from Japan are described as "intellectual thrash" (err what?) and "the baddest deathrash metal band in Japan" (all right!!). Props to whoever designed their poster - I dig it! They're playing at The Wall 11/02 with Panzer Warfare and Revolting Society. http://gigguide.tw/event-6183

The Agonist (from Canada) also announced a show recently with Japanese nu-metal band Head Phones President and locals Eye of Violence. That show is on 11/11 at The Wall. http://gigguide.tw/event-6070

Day of Reckoning 2012: Cannibal Corpse, Impiety, Sigh and Revilement http://gigguide.tw/event-5602

I asked Goat (GigGuide translator, metalhead and all-round niceguy) to write a little something about the upcoming Cannibal Corpse show… and he wrote a 3 page essay (hey, he loves his metal!) Anyway, here's the condensed version:

Day of Reckoning is coming to town, the notorious Cannibal Corpse is lining up with three bands - underground death metal beast Revilement (TW), post-apocalypse black metal warhead Impiety (SIN), and avant-garde black metal freaks Sigh (JP), these four bands are going to ravage Taipei city on 10/21.

Last time, Day of Reckoning presented Misery Index, this time, Magnum Music team up with ICON promotion, and makes this event heavier. It’s been a good year for metalheads in Taiwan; tons of awesome bands hit the town in a row.

Besides our old friend Revilement, Day of Reckoning also brings Sigh here. It’s been a decade since their last gig in Taiwan and now they come back with their more Romantic music album “In Somniphobia”. It is also Impiety’s third time here, spiked leather jacket, mohawk and assaultive evil riffs are still the same after all these years, and of course, this event is part of the headliner - Cannibal Corpse’s “Torture” tour, the album has been highly praised by old fans, with all their old classic songs, this is going to be insane.
